The cathode must reach full operating temperature before H.T. voltage is applied to the anode, requiring a delay of at least one minute. When switching off, disconnect the H.T. supply before the cathode supply. Operating temperature should never exceed 40°C; forced air cooling from a fan may be necessary in warm environments. An anode fuse should be mounted as close to the cap as possible.
