Application Notes
The operation is based upon velocity-sorting the electrons which emerge from the end of the helix. A DC beam interacts with RF fields on the helix resulting in velocity and current modulation. A gate electrode bias decelerates electrons, allowing only high-velocity electrons to pass through the aperture to the screen.
